Kent County (WZZM) - There is a warning out to lock your car doors after a rash of break-ins in Kent County.
The thieves have entered several cars over the past few days, stealing everything from money to electronics.
The break-ins started Wednesday night and continued Thursday night. All were within a five-mile radius of one another. The Kent County Sheriff's Department took five reports in Tyrone Township near 16 Mile Road and Payne. The next day, there were another five in Sparta Township and two in Algoma Township.
At one home on Indian Lakes Road, two cars were broken into. The woman who lives there, Michelle Cadarette, says she realized her cars had been entered when she saw her purse and other belongings dumped along the side of the driveway.
"It's like people looking for money, I guess. They come on to other people's property and go through other people's things. I mean we had everything locked, except the van and the car."
Deputy Tonya Walkons says, "Items stolen consist of electronics, money, coins, cell phones, and GPS units." She recommends people keep their doors locked and lights on outside at night, as a safety precaution.
Investigators did process each of the scenes, hoping to find fingerprints on the vehicles.
If anyone has information about the larcenies, you're asked to call the Kent County Sheriff's Department or Silent Observer at 774-2345.
