DETROIT, Mich. (WZZM) - The Detroit Tigers tonight will pay tribute to Michigan police officers killed in the line of duty last year -- including a State Trooper killed in West Michigan. Tonight is the Tigers' third annual law enforcement appreciation night at Comerica Park.
The game's opening ceremony will be in honor of Trooper Paul Butterfield, who was shot and killed last September during a traffic stop near Ludington.
The ceremony will also pay tribute to two Detroit Police officers, Rodney Jones and Patrick Hill, also killed last year. Proceeds from tonight's game will go to the National Law Enforcement Museum, which will be built in Washington, DC.
