WALKER, Mich. (WZZM) -- Family members of Yolanda Reyes, a Walker woman missing for three weeks, say a body found Friday morning at a condominium construction site is hers.
A construction worker discovered a partially-buried female body around 8 a.m. in a lot near Bristol Avenue and Three Mile Road NW.
Deputy Walker Police Chief Greg Long said Friday evening that investigators believe the body, a dark-haired woman's, is that of Reyes, but the Deputy Chief noted that identification has not been confirmed. Authorities say they plan to check dental records to confirm the identity.
Autopsy results have been labeled death by homicidal means. Investigators say no additional information is currently available.
Reyes, 40, disappeared around 5:30 a.m. on April 24. Her husband told investigators he dropped her off at Neal Mast & Son Greenhouses, where she worked. The greenhouse is less than a mile from Friday's crime scene.
Walker police confirm they are in contact with Reyes' husband.
Neighbors say officers were walking door-to-door Friday morning, asking if residents had seen anything suspicious. Police were specifically asking about two vehicles.
Authorities call this case a homicide investigation.
