Foundation hosts activities, offers support for families with need

WALKER, MICH. - The Family Hope Foundation provides support for individuals with special needs and their families by filling in gaps in the system, such as therapy scholarships.

The scholarships help when insurance doesn’t cover the bill, officials say. The foundation also organizes events for families to come out and just have a good time.

They hosted an event Saturday, Oct. 15, at the Deltaplex Arena called Special Family Funfest, and it did not disappoint for the children involved.

Activities included face paintings, games and performances for kids.

"It's a day that's specially planned just for them and their needs, said Lara Kitts, co-chair of the foundation. "So they can feel physically and emotionally safe, and do things really fun altogether as a whole family -- that everybody can enjoy and everybody can participate in."

The foundation relies completely on donations. Visit its website for more information.
