Heavy police presence at Walker home; suspect turns self in

Tactical teams set up a perimeter around the home shortly after noon today.

WALKER, MICH. - A police presence at a home Tuesday ended peacefully as a man barricaded himself inside for hours and came out without incident.

The home located in an area near Miller Avenue and Ferris Street NW.

Walker police, Kent County Sheriff's Department deputies and SWAT vehicles responded to the home just after noon Tuesday, Sept. 20. A negotiator at the scene worked to get the man out.

The woman was inside until she was let go around 2:30 p.m.

Police arrested the suspect without incident around 6:30 p.m.
