U.S. 131 ramp reopens after car fire

WALKER, Mich. (WZZM) -- Police and fire crews have reopened the U.S. 131 connector to I-96 after a car fire.

As of 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, the ramp from northbound U.S. 131 to westbound I-96 was closed while firefighters cleaned up the scene of the fire.

The vehicle was off the side of the road, but emergency vehicles were in the roadway.

Crews also called in a Kent County Road Commission truck to put salt on the ramp because of water from the effort to put out the fire.

The ramp reopened around 5 a.m.
