White Lake visitor discovers marijuana plants

WHITEHALL, Mich. (WZZM)— A visitor to White Lake found more than just brush growing along the shoreline this week.

Whitehall police are crediting the visitor and wildlife photographer with helping them track down a collection of marijuana plants near the water.

Officers say the visitor spotted the plants growing near White Lake and contacted them Tuesday. When two officers could not locate the marijuana while walking through the area, one of the officers enlisted the help of a friend with a remote-controlled quadcopter, equipped with a camera. The quadcopter took overhead photos of the area, revealing the location of the plants.

Officers then returned to shoreline, dug up the marijuana plants and destroyed them.
