Police: Drunk driver crashes into Wyoming officer's cruiser

WYOMING, MICH. - An alleged drunk driver is sitting in jail since crashing into a police car early Sunday.

A Wyoming Department of Public Safety car traveling east on 28th Street at Buchanan Avenue SW was hit in the intersection around 12:50 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 30, according to a news release.

Police say its cruiser had a flashing yellow light, while a 27-year-old Comstock Park man failed to yield as it was turning onto 28th Street from Buchanan Avenue.

The officer, a 29-year-old man, was taken to an area hospital with minor injuries. He since has been released.

The suspect, believed to have been drunk, was arrested for operating while intoxicated and was taken to the Kent County Correctional Facility. He was not hurt in the crash, police say.
