Police: Motorcyclist dies after crash with SUV on 28th Street

Crews responded to 28th Street because of a deadly motorcycle crash.

WYOMING, MICH. - Police in Wyoming are investigating a crash that killed a motorcyclist on 28th Street on Saturday afternoon.

According to a news release from the Wyoming Department of Public Safety, the crash happened just after 12 p.m. on Saturday in on 28th Street SW, between Sharon Avenue and Boulevard Drive. 

Officers on scene said a driver in a silver Dodge Journey was traveling west on 28th Street when she turned left into the pathway of a motorcyclist traveling eastbound.

The motorcyclist, a 47-year-old Wyoming woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the SUV, a Grand Rapids woman, was transported to the hospital for minor injuries. 

Witnesses told police that speed did not appear to be a factor in the crash, however it remains under investigation. 

The victim's name is being withheld until family can be notified.
