Woman shot in face at Wyoming hotel to undergo surgery

WYOMING, MICH. - A woman shot in the face showed up to a Grand Rapids hospital, and police believe they've placed the man responsible for the shooting behind bars.

The 29-year-old woman told police after she was dropped off around 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 8, she was shot in a northern Kent County campground, according to a Wyoming Department of Public Safety news release.

But after county deputies spoke with her, it was learned she actually was shot at a hotel in the area of Buchanan Avenue and 28th Street SW. Officers were sent to the hotel, and they arrested a 29-year-old male suspect without incident.

Three children also were at the hotel. Police say they were turned over to relatives unharmed.

The woman will undergo surgery for a bullet wound to the face, the release states.

The Kent County Prosecutor's Office is expected to review the case early next week.
