WYOMING, MICH. - What is sentimental value worth to you? A Wyoming woman had to answer that question Friday, after she says her purse was stolen with something very important inside.
For Morgan Coons, it wasn't the drivers license or the sense of the security she lost that really bothered her, it was something else, something irreplaceable.
"I was always a daddy's girl," Coons said as she looked a photos of her dad.
Morgan's father William Coons, his wife and their grandchild died three years ago in a head-on crash in Missouri.
"He was really joyful, sometimes care free, and loving."
A love Morgan carried with her.
"My aunts did something really sweet with a blanket that was mine that he carried around with him and it was really important to him because it connected to us which they buried him in it and gave a piece to me," she said. "I refer to it as my heart because its what still connects us because part of it is with him and the other part is with me, and I carry that around with me."
A heart, that was gone along with her purse Friday morning.
"I knew instantly my bag had been stolen out of my car. There's some pry marks by my door handle so I knew someone got into my trunk and stolen some stuff out."
Desperate, Morgan didn't know what to do, so she posted the incident on a Grand Rapids sellers Facebook page. Someone left a comment and suggested Morgan look around where the car was parked incase someone ditched the purse.
"I was pulling through here and kind of took a wider turn," she said as she walked around her apartment parking lot. "I had given up and parked and glanced up at awning and saw my purse up here, the heart was sticking up on top but nothing else was in it."
Morgan got her heart back in more ways than one.
"I thought oh my gosh, it definitely felt like a sign from above."
Morgan's driver's license is still missing but she says that can easily be replaced. She is filing a police report about the incident.
