Man injured, dog killed after hit by car in Ottawa County

HOLLAND TOWNSHIP, MICH. - A Holland man is injured and his dog is dead after they were hit by a car Monday morning in Holland Township.

Ottawa County investigators say 43-year-old Michelle Trejo was driving east on Quincy Street near 140th Avenue when she lost control of her car shortly before 9 a.m.

The 2005 Chevy Aveo crossed the yellow line and went off the north side of the road, hitting 66-year-old James Stelter and his dog.

Stelter was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital with what police say are non-life-threatening injuries -- his dog was killed in the crash.

Trejo's car rolled onto its side, but she was not injured in the accident.
