Man who took images up shoppers' skirts gets jail, probation

Skirt peeper sentenced jail

GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. (WZZM) - A Grand Rapids man arrested twice for taking images up the skirts of women shoppers at area Meijer stores was sentenced Thursday to five years’ probation for capturing/distributing an image of an unclothed person.

Donte Richardson, 22, admitted to taking video up the skirt of a woman at a Meijer store in Gaines Township last December.

Kent County Circuit Court Judge Dennis Leiber ordered that he also serve 30 days in the Kent County Jail.

Richardson told police he had been video-taping women in stores because he is drawn to pornography involving unsuspecting women in public, court records show.

Richardson in July pleaded guilty to capturing/distributing images of an unclothed person.  In exchange for his plea, prosecutors dismissed a second case accusing him of doing the same thing last April at the Knapp’s Corner Meijer in Grand Rapids.

Richardson was facing up to five years in prison.

A store security guard witnessed the Dec. 9 incident at the Meijer at 1801 Marketplace Drive SE near Caledonia.

Richardson was awaiting trial in that case when was nabbed for doing the same thing April 12 at the Knapp's Corner Meijer on East Beltline Avenue NE.

Richardson told investigators he targets victims in stores because he is drawn to pornography involving unsuspecting women in public, court records show.

“He admitted he used the video recorder on his cell phone to record under a woman’s skirt,’’ detectives wrote in court records.
