WHITEHALL, Mich. (WZZM)- Whitehall High School Girls Basketball coach Jared Bays is accused of having sex with an 8th grade girl.
"She recently divulged the information to her mother and her mother contacted police," says Muskegon county Prosecutor Tony Tague.
Bays faces 3rd Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct charges.
He is suspended from his job as a coach and teacher at the Whitehall Alternative School.
The prosecutor says the girl told investigators the pair had sex 2 years ago when she was 15 and Bays was 30.
If convicted he could recieve additional punishment under a law prohibiting sexual contact between a teacher and a student.
The prosecutor says there may be other victims.
"He was known to hang out with students after hours at his home," says Tague. "We have indications there may be more than one victim."
Tague says Bays was arrested at the home he shares with a 21 year old woman he says was also a former student.
