MUSKEGON, Mich. (WZZM)- Police say tips to Silent Observer are helping them as they investigate the murder of a 19 year old Muskegon Community College student.

Andrea Parnell was discovered Saturday morning by her grandmother at their home on Orchard Avenue in Muskegon. It wasn't until Parnell was rushed to the emergency room that family members found out the young mother had been shot. Her family says she was a good student who wanted to become a nurse.

Parnell's Grandfather Rodell Hadden says, "She always had good grades, she was in the band."

Neighbors tell WZZM 13 News that Muskegon Police spent several hours searching a house near the victim's home. Investigators are not confirming if the search was related to the murder.
