Muskegon event aims to heal wounds of wars

MUSKEGON, MICH. - A special event in Muskegon Monday, Oct. 24, focused on World War II. An Oregon couple wants to return war flags to Japanese families.

They've received around 400 of them from American veterans. The couple spoke at the USS Silversides Museum in Muskegon.

"Whoever you are anywhere in the world, if somebody in your family disappears you feel sorrow, and if that person who disappears comes back, or there is a return of some part of them you feel that joy and closure," says Rex Ziak of the Obon Society.

On Tuesday at 3 p.m., the couple will be speaking at GVSU's Allendale Campus. At 7 p.m., they'll be speaking at Christian Reformed Church in Grand Rapids.
