N.Y. man drives car through neighbor's fence, saves dog from imaginary fire

HALFMOON, N.Y. - A 43-year-old man under the influence of LSD drove his car through a fence to save his neighbor’s dog from an imagined fire, according to local reports.

Michael Orchard of Halfmoon, N.Y., believed he was "rescuing the dog from the house," where he also smashed in a glass sliding door Thursday night, State Police spokesman Trooper Mark Cepiel told the Albany Times Union.

Orchard, who said he mixed acid with cough medicine, tried to warn neighbors of the imagined fire by banging on doors and yelling before driving his BMW sedan across his neighbor's yard, WNYT reports.

Orchard was arrested and jailed on a $15,000 bail for burglary and criminal mischief.

The dog wasn’t harmed.
