WYOMING, Mich. (WZZM) - Members of the Army National Guard 1463rd Transportation Company arrived home in Wyoming around 9 o'clock Monday night.
After a year in the war zone, the unit was intact. No one was killed, no one was wounded and all were present and accounted for.
After a year apart, their relatives couldn't wait to get to their soldiers and welcome them home. The 1463rd guarded prisoners in Iraq and helped train Iraqi troops during their year away. Now, they say they are ready to resume civilian life.
For about three dozen of the soldiers, it was their second deployment to Iraq in four years. For them the adjustment to life back in West Michigan may be a little easier this time because they've done it before.
The military helps soldiers and their families adjust to coming home from the war.
