GAYLORD - A two-week wolf search starts February 21st in the northern Lower Peninsula.

Wildlife biologists soon will comb the woods by truck, snowmobile and snowshoe, looking for wolf tracks.

The survey will center around northern Montmorency and southern Presque Isle counties.

That's the area where a wolf was killed in a trap in October and a pair of tracks were confirmed in December. Biologists with the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians will participate in the search.

There have been reports of wolves on the tribe's lands since 1997.
