Lyons - Michigan State Police have called off the search for a Grayling man who jumped into the Grand River while trying to escape arrest.

Police say Andrew Muma, 25, of Grayling jumped into the river in the town of Lyons, east of Ionia, around 9:15 p.m. Monday. State Police Troopers say Muma was trying to escape after they learned he had an outstanding felony warrant during a routine check. Troopers immediately followed Muma into the water, and dispatched the Ionia County Dive Team and the Lyons-Muir Fire Department. The water temperature was 35 degrees. The dive search continued this morning, as well as a search by helicopter.

Muma's family has been notified of his disappearance.
