Greenville- Now that gas prices are hovering at around $3.50 a gallon, more drivers are choosing to run their vehicles on the E-85 ethanol-gasoline blend.

"We've definitely seen an increase in E-85," says cashier Matt Mingo at Peterson Oil and Propane in Greenville. "It's a quarter difference so it adds up quickly."

At the gas pump putting E-85 into his Chevy Tahoe, Herman Wells says he saves more than $5.00 every time he fills up.

"Whenever gas prices started getting high is when I started watching for the E-85 and trying to get E-85 all the time," says Wells.

Car dealers that sell E-85 capable vehicles say there is more interest from customers.

"My own grandmother, she bought an Impala here about 2 weeks ago," says Jason Decker at Decker Chevrolet. "The first thing she said, 'Can this do E-85?' I said, 'Heck yea, it can'."

There are now at least 50 filling stations in Michigan that offer E-85.

Most are owned by Meijer.
