DETROIT (AP) - The Lions are 3-1 after beating Chicago 37-27 this afternoon at Ford Field.

It's their best start since 2004.

No other team in league history can say they scored 34 points in the final quarter as Detroit did against the defending NFC champions, and no game included a combined 48 points in the fourth.

Jon Kitna threw two fourth-quarter touchdown passes, and Casey FitzSimmons sealed the win by returning an onside kick for a TD.

The defending NFC champion Bears fell to 1-3. Former Michigan Wolverine Brian Griese was 34-of-52 for 286 yards with two TDs and three interceptions. One of them was returned 64 yards for a touchdown by Keith Smith, giving Detroit a 17-13 lead early in the fourth quarter.
