WYOMING, Mich. (WZZM) After months of consideration, Priceline.com is getting ready to open a call center in Wyoming. "It really does say that we can compete with global companies," says key player in the deal, Birgit Klohs, President of The Right Place. "We have a great community to market and we have a great sales team marketing it," Klohs adds.
That team is made up of more than just marketing employees. "Everybody who lives here is a spokesperson," explains Klohs.
That is true for Tre Cugini waitress, Carmen Gehring, who helped seal the deal with Priceline while waiting on the representatives at dinner. "You have Lake Michigan twenty to thirty minutes from here, so you can go out there and feel like you're almost on vacation," Gehring explains, "You have Detroit only a few hours away, you can go to Chicago if you need the big city, and you can come home and it feels like it's a small town, yet, there's a lot to offer."
Selling West Michigan to customers is just another daily task for the Idaho-born native. "She has great experience in talking with customers about the city," says Tre Cugini Manager, Carol Huber.
Since Gehring has spoken highly of the city to so many customers, she does't remember the exact conversation. "I talk to so many people about Grand Rapids and West Michigan and everything that it has to offer," Gerhing explains, "People want to work here, they want to live here, and they want to stay here."
Just the type of community that Priceline was looking for. "It was an easy sell," says Gerhing.
Priceline.com is still hiring for its Grand Rapids facility. The company's website lists openings for "Customer Service Executives" and "Team Leader."
