MUSKEGON, Mich. - (WZZM) A teenager charged in the shooting death of a Muskegon Community College student is headed to trial.

17-year-old Antonio Ramsey was charged Tuesday with open murder in the death of 19-year-old college student and mother, Andrea Parnell.

Ramsey has a history that includes a sex crime and disorderly conduct, but a school official said no one thought the Muskegon teen was capable of murder.  Ramsey is accused of killing Parnell by firing three shots from a .22-caliber gun into the back of her head.

On Nov. 7, Parnell's grandmother found her body at their home on Orchard Street in Muskegon.

Ramsey remains in the Muskegon County jail, and faces up to life in prison if convicted.
