GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) - A non-profit organization that helps feed kids in Kent County got a major donation today.
The Edelweiss Club, a German-American group that puts on Oktoberfest in Grand Rapids, donated $4,500 to the Kids' Food Basket. The money was from proceeds from this year's Oktoberfest.
Kids' Food Basket provides more than 2,000 sack suppers a day to kids in Kent County at schools where 80% or more of the students live at or below poverty level.
Kids' Food Basket is also providing grocery bags full of non-perishable items for these at risk kids to take home over the two week holiday break.
