East Grand Rapids students hear 'The Dream' from Martin Luther King Jr. impersonator

GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) - Doctor Martin Luther King Jr. famous I Have a Dream speech echoed Monday morning at a special school presentation at East Grand Rapids High School.

3,000 students were present for a reenactment of the speech by Martin Luther King Jr. impersonator, Marvin Blanks.

It was part of the district's tribute to the civil rights leader on this, his federal holiday. The speech was followed by student presentations and a musical performance.

There are several other events Monday scheduled at schools across West Michigan. At 1:45 p.m., Grand Valley State University will hold a silent march, starting at the Zumberge Library in Allendale. It will be followed by a speech by the season four winner of The Apprentice, Randal D. Pinkett.

Aquinas College is honoring Dr. King with a blood drive until 7 p.m. at the Wege Student Center ballroom.
