(WZZM) - How much do you think Sarah Palin paid for her stylish specs? Well, chances are more than most Americans are willing to dish out. But if you're looking for a way to save money on your next pair of glasses, we have a couple of new ideas for you.
The first option is "Goodwill Optical of Greater Grand Rapids." The company has three stores; one on 4 Mile Road and Plainfield, another on 29th Street Southeast in Grand Rapids and a third on 54th Street.
Don't let the Goodwill name fool you - these glasses are all new. They're not used. Single vision lenses with frames start at $68. The store has about three hundred different styles of frames at any given time and is constantly adding new styles.
"We get a new shipment about once a week. It's always changing. If you don't see something you want today, you may tomorrow," says Heather Lewis of Goodwill Optical of Greater Grand Rapids. You can also get an eye exam at Goodwill Optical of Greater Grand Rapids for $32.
Another option is a new website, www.eyebuydirect.com. It's a bit riskier, but can save you even more.
You go to the website, pick out your frames, put in your prescription and that's it. Check your mailbox in a couple of weeks and you're all set. The main downside is that you can't try them on to see how they look on you, but you can upload a picture of yourself and drag the glasses onto your picture to give you an idea. Eyebuydirect also offers a 100% return policy, but they have to receive the glasses back within seven days.
With the cost of everything going up these days, it's nice to know there are still some bargains out there. You just have to look a little closer.
