Donate produce from local farmer's markets to families in need

OTTAWA COUNTY, MICH. - Make your next trip to the Farmer's Market count.

Starting on Wednesday, visitors of the Grand Haven, Spring Lake and Holland markets can donate fresh produce to families in need.

It's an effort by Ottawa Food in collaboration with local agencies and individuals to ensure that all Ottawa County families have access to health, local and affordable food choices.

Shoppers at the markets can grab green bags at a designated donation table before they do their own shopping. Shoppers are to fill up the bag with fresh fruits and vegetables, then return it to the donation table. The food is then donated to local pantries and seniors in need for free.

Dates and locations include:

  • Holland Farmer's Market on July 12 and 26, August 9 and 23, ad September 6 and 20
  • Grand Haven Farmer's Market on August 9 and September 7
  • Spring Lake Farmer's Market on August 10 and September 7
