Police investigating possible kidnapping in Grand Rapids

Foiled kidnapping update

GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. - UPDATE: Two more men, a 20-year-old and a 19-year-old, have been arrested in connection to the incident.

Grand Rapids Police are investigating a possible kidnapping that led to Ithaca, 70 miles away.

According to investigators, four suspects entered a home late Thursday night in the 800 block of Alexander Street SE and demanded property from the homeowner. The alleged victim, 53, says he was then tied-up, kidnapped, and driven to Ithaca, in Gratiot County.

At around 7 a.m. Friday, the man says he was able to escape his abductors and flagged down a motorist who called 911.

The victim gave Gratiot County investigators a description of his vehicle and it was forwarded to Grand Rapids Police.

Shortly after 10 a.m., a GRPD officer spotted the vehicle on Graham Street SW.  As he approached the blue Dodge Durango, two people fled the vehicle.  A 24-year old man and 19-year old man, who are related to the victim, were later taken into custody.
