GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. - Bernie Sanders didn't shy away from expressing his feelings about the Republican presidential nominee-- calling Trump's campaign a bigoted one and his proposed tax system, flawed.
"I personally believe that Donald Trump would be a disaster for this country," Bernie Sanders said.
Sanders wanted everyone to take a hard look at Donald Trump.
"Ask whether we want somebody who has run his campaign based on bigotry making insults everyday against women, against African Americans, against Muslims, against Latinos, I don't think that is the kind of person we want as president," Sanders said.
"I don't think we need a president who wants to give hundreds of billions of dollars in tax breaks to the top one percent, a president who thinks climate change is a hoax," Sanders said.
Despite no longer being in the race, Sanders still has supporters who are not shifting their support to Clinton. Sanders believes looking at Clinton's agenda will change their minds.
"She's talking about making public colleges and universities tuition free for the middle class, raising the minimum wage to a living wage, pay equity for women, taking serious action to combat climate change, reforming with a broken criminal justice system, dealing with immigration reform--those are serious issues," Sanders said.
Detroit Free Press numbers show Clinton with an 11 point lead in the state, but that could change. Which is why Sanders is urging Michiganders to vote.
"Lets be frank, this is going to be a very close election, there are a number of battleground states, Michigan is one of those states," Sanders said.
But Sanders said it doesn't end just by voting for president.
"We've got to get involved after that. I worry very much that a handful of billionaires have just extraordinary power over our economy and our political life and the only antidote to that is millions of people standing up and fighting back," Sanders said.
