Ellis wants to bring "business approach" to Washington

GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- Brian Ellis believe he is the kind of republican more in line with the values of Third Congressional District voters. Next Tuesday, we will learn if a majority of those voters agree.

Ellis is trying to unseat Congressman Justin Amash, who Ellis says has cast votes, "I don't think are reflective of the values of the Third District."

Ellis owns a small financial services firm and was formerly president of the East Grand Rapids Board of Education.

In a recent media forum, Ellis said he would focus on building consensus with other members of congress, eliminating Obamacare, and making the tax system simpler.

"I've had a broad and diverse set of experiences. I have ag experience, I have the business experience, I've had labor relations experience; it's interpersonal skills," Ellis said.

Ellis has won many endorsements previously bestowed upon Amash, including those from the Michigan Chamber of Commerce, Right to Life, and Farm Bureau.

"After putting us both through the process they said Brian Ellis is the best person to lead the the third district forward," he said.
