WASHINGTON, D.C. (WZZM) -- President Obama is expected to visit six states this week, including Michigan, as a last minute appeal to mobilize Democratic voters.
Obama is expected to stump for Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Gary Peters in Detroit on Saturday. Peters is facing off against Republican Terri Lynn Land to fill Carl Levin's Senate seat.
President Obama will also visit Wisconsin, Maine, Rhode Island, Connecticut and Pennsylvania. In the past few years, Democratic voters have largely sat out mid-term elections. Most of the country's closest Senate races are going on in states where the President's popularity is still low.
First Lady Michelle Obama made a trip to Michigan a few weeks ago. Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and former Florida Governor Jeb Bush have also visited our state to campaign for candidates.
