US Senate candidate Peters visits West Michigan

COMSTOCK PARK, Mich. (WZZM) -- One of the candidates running for the US Senate seat currently held by Carl Levin stopped in West Michigan Wednesday.

US Rep. Gary Peters and his Michigan First listening tour visited the American Legion Post in Comstock Park.

There, the Detroit-area Democrat met with veterans and discussed issues important to them.

"Issues our veterans are concerned about include some of what we've been hearing with the VA, and how difficult it is for them to get the services they have earned and deserve," Rep. Peters said. "I'm working very aggressively to make sure there is full accountability at the VA and to make sure the veterans can get in and get in on a timely basis."

Peters' challenger is Republican Terri Lynn Land, a West Michigan native.

Sen. Levin is retiring at the end of his term.
