Possible case of mumps reported at Calvin College

Some students have been offered vaccinations.

GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. - There has been a possible case of mumps reported on Calvin College's Campus.

The college has posted an alert on their health services page, saying they should know by mid-Monday if the case is confirmed.

Mumps is a highly contagious viral illness, and the college is concerned about students who haven't been vaccinated against it. Those students have been offered vaccinations.

If the test comes back positive, students who choose not to get vaccinated will be asked to leave for 26 days by order of the Kent County Health Department. They would have to complete the semester off-campus.
