Gunnery Sgt. Daniel Price, a Holland Marine, killed in Afghanistan

WASHINGTON (WZZM) - A Marine from Holland has died while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.

The Department of Defense says Gunnery Sgt. Daniel J. Price, 27, of Holland, Mich., was killed along with Gunnery Sgt. Jonathan W. Gifford, 34, of Palm Bay, Fla.

The men died July 29 while conducting combat operations in Badghis province, Afghanistan.

Sgt. Daniel Prince was assigned to 1st Marine Special Operations Battalion, Camp Pendleton, Calif.  He had received a Bronze Star with combat V, Purple Heart, three Combat Action Ribbons and three Good Conduct Medals during his ten years in the Marines, which also included six tours in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Statement from 2nd District Congressman Bill Huizenga (R-Zeeland) on the death of Gunnery Sgt. Daniel Price:

"While the details are not clear, a hero from Holland has lost his life defending freedom. Let us all take a moment to remember Gunnery Sergeant Price's courage, dedication, and commitment to freedom. And let us also hold his family in our hearts and pray for the loved ones he has left behind."
