Montague, MI (WZZM) - The Land Conservancy of West Michigan is very close to securing another piece of Lake Michigan frontage.
As most beach go-ers know, undeveloped beach frontage is becoming more and more scarce.
The Land Conservancy is making it a priority to protect as much of the critical dune areas as possible.
Pete DeBoer, Land Protection Coordinator explained the plot as, "kind of what you think of is this classic Lake Michigan shoreline. They're recognized for their natural resource value, their special value to the habitat that we have here. So, it's important to keep these areas secured because of their natural resource value."
The land will cost about 1.7 million dollars to acquire.
The Conservancy only needs $170,000 to complete the sale.
