KENTWOOD, Mich. (WZZM)-When it comes to swords, what are the rules?

13 On Your Side contacted a seller to find out. The owner at Kentwood Outlet Pawn Shop says regulations for swords vary greatly from gun rules.

According to state law, people are not allowed to carry a concealed knife, sword or blade measuring over three inches in length onto public property. Violators could face a $2,500 fine or five years in prison.

Unlike guns, permits or papers are not required to purchase swords. That's why dealers must be proactive in deciding just who can buy them.

"If anybody comes into my store, because I do sell pocket knives or jackknives, I make sure they are 18 years old. I don't sell to kids," says Scott Mansel, who owns the Kentwood Outlet Pawn Shop.
Mansel says his sword sales are actually declining.
