WALKER, Mich. (WZZM) - Finding deals on school supplies can be a downright headache. The website www.savingsangel.com combines sales with coupons to make shopping much easier and affordable.
Sarah Ferguson with savingsangel.com says parents should already be looking for deals on school supplies. "Don't wait until the night before school to start," says Ferguson.
Ferguson was able to buy all the items on a school supply list and stick to a $30 budget at Target. However, she says shopping around at different stores is the key.
"The biggest mistake people make is taking everything to one store and buying everything at once," says Ferguson.
At one store highlighters were $4.39, but savingsangel.com helped Ferguson find a sale and a coupon, which lowered the price to 74 cents. The same process helped her get crayons for free.
Ferguson says for many parents it's worth the short time it takes to drive to stop by a few different stores.
"I'm running around all the time, so if I'm going to drive by a store and I know there's a good deal calling to me, I have to do it," says Ferguson.
Target did help Ferguson say under the $30 budget, with all the items costing $28.40.
"Overall, target has pretty low prices," says Ferguson.
However, after Ferguson shopped around she was able to buy the same supplies for half that, $15.80.
