HASTINGS, Mich. (WZZM) - The Hastings Police Department reports that a hoax message is going around town with mistaken information about 9-1-1.
The hoax which has been posted on social media sites tells residents to call 1-1-2 instead of 9-1-1 in an emergency for faster response. This is not true. 1-1-2 is a European emergency number that sometimes mobile phones can access.
Hastings PD reminds everyone that anyone in the United States needing emergency response should call 9-1-1.
