Police searching for Alpine Twp. armed robbery suspect

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WZZM)- The Kent County Sheriff's Department is looking for a man who attempted to rob an individual using a knife.

The incident occured around 11:20 pm Tuesday night in the 3000 block of Alpine Avenue behind the Apple Bee's restaurant.

A 27-year old Grand Rapids man was walking southbound on the service drive behind the restaurant when the suspect approached him asking for directions, then demanded his wallet while displaying a knife.

The victim managed to run away from the suspect who fled in a vehicle southbound on Alpine Avenue.

The suspect is being described as a black male, in his 20's, 5'9" with a thin build. He was driving a blue, 4-door passenger vehicle with tinted windows.
