The Forest Hills Nudist Club in Saranac will take part in a nationwide attempt to set a skinny dipping world record.
SARANAC, Mich. (WZZM)-A West Michigan nudist club was looking to make a big splash Saturday, by helping set the Guinness world record for skinny dipping.
Saranac's Forest Hills club joined others across the country in the American Association for Nude Recreation in attempting to break their own record.
At 3 p.m. Saturday, 105 people in West Michigan contributed by stripping down to their birthday suits and hopping in the pool. Last year, the club managed to attract just 92 people. Officials called this years event a triumph.
"It feels great," says coordinator Dee King. "We're so happy, first of all, to have so many newcomers try it and see what we're all about here. This club has been here for over 50 years and it's probably the best kept secret in West Michigan."
Swimmers at Forest Hills and dozens of other nudist camps, beaches and clubs set the first Guinness skinny dipping record last year. They say 13,648 skinny dippers took part.
"Everybody hollers and screams," says member Brian.
"It was great establishing the world record and seeing so many people in the pool," adds member Connie Brinson.
