GRATTAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZZM) -- Police say six people were injured Friday night when a car ran a stop sign and hit another vehicle.
The accident happened around 10:45 p.m. at Lincoln Lake Ave. & 5 Mile Rd. NE in Grattan Township.
Investigators say Dezmond Fiebig, 17, was driving a 1996 Chevy Lumina Eastbound on 5 Mile Rd. The car ran the stop sign and collided with a black 1999 Chevrolet S-10 driven by 26-year-old David Wright from Belding.
The impact of the collision sent both vehicles into a ditch.
Four people were inside the car the Lumina. Three of them suffered serious injuries.
One of the injured from the car was flown to Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital by an AeroMed helicopter. A second person from the car was flown to a Kalamazoo hospital.
Two people in the S-10 suffered minor injuries.
A passing driver reported the accident to Kent County 911.
Deputies say Fiebig was at fault, though they are still investigating the accident.
Police shut down the intersection of Lincoln Lake and 5 Mile Rd. for more than an hour to rescue the victims and investigate the accident.
