Allendale farmland has been purchased for new Grand River Greenway park
ALLENDALE, Mich (WZZM) - More than 100 acres and a mile of riverfront property in Allendale is set to be turned into a new park.
The Ottawa County Parks Commission Tuesday revealed its plans for the land.
The property, part of the Grand River Greenway, will feature marked trails and a parking area.
The land was formerly used for farming, but was prone to frequent flooding.
Native vegetation has been planted to combat erosion and improve wildlife habitats.
The land is south of Lake Michigan Dr. near Linden Dr. I was purchased with money from the federal stimulus.
