HOLLAND, Mich. (WZZM) -- The victim of an armed robbery has been released from the hospital after being assaulted and robbed at gunpoint over the weekend.
It happened Sunday at about 12:30 A.M. in the 400 block of Columbia Ave.
Holland Police say a 19-year-old man was walking alone when he was confronted by the suspect who was wielding a handgun. The suspect then struck the man several times, who took serious injuries to the face and head. The suspect then robbed the the man and ran off.
The man was taken to Holland Community Hospital and later transferred to Spectrum Hospital where he was released after treatment.
He says the suspect was wearing a dark colored bandana over his face with a hooded sweatshirt. He describes the suspect as a Hispanic male about 15 to 20 years old, around 5'7 with a heavy build.
Police believe the incident may be related to a string of three other robberies that took place in recent weeks around the area.
