FENWICK, Mich. (WZZM) - A Montcalm County soldier serving in Afghanistan is dead.
Our pertner, the Greenville Daily News is reporting Joseph "Joey" Prentler, 20, died Monday after the vehicle he was riding in struck an improvised explosive device while on a drive to pick up new materials and vehicles.
Prentler grew up in Carson City with his parents, Joe and Tammy Prentler. He was a 2008 graduate of Carson City-Crystal High School.
Prentler is survived by his parents and 13-year-old brother. Funeral arrangements are pending.
