St. Petersburg, FL (Sports Network) - The Tampa Bay Rays placed designated
hitter Luke Scott on the 15-day disabled list Saturday with a right oblique
injury and recalled pitcher Cesar Ramos from Triple-A Durham.
Scott, who missed the majority of June with back spasms, left Friday's 14-
inning marathon against the Seattle Mariners in the 10th frame with what the
team called right mid-back tightness.
Signed as a free agent in the offseason after spending four seasons in
Baltimore, Scott was hitting .225 with 12 home runs and 45 RBI over 68 games
with the Rays this season.
Ramos appeared in 11 games -- one start -- with Tampa Bay this season and
sports a 1-0 record and a 1.74 earned run average with 17 strikeouts in 20 2/3
innings.
