Huntington, WV (Sports Network) - Elijah Pittman recorded a game-high 19
points as the Marshall Thundering Herd cruised by the Tulsa Golden Hurricane,
79-61, in Conference USA action at the Cam Henderson Center.
Pittman made good on 4-of-8 from beyond the arc for the Thundering Herd (8-8,
1-0 C-USA), who snapped a three-game losing streak. DeAndre Kane and D.D.
Scarver chipped in 16 points a piece, while Dennis Tinnon ripped down 11
rebounds.
For the Golden Hurricane (9-7, 1-1), Shaquille Harrison and James Woodard
scored 12 points each. Rashad Ray had 11 points off the bench as the road team
snapped a two-game winning streak.
Marshall made 16-of-33 from the floor in the first half, including 7-of-17
from long range, while holding Tulsa to a mere 8-of-30 from the floor.
Marshall went into intermission with a comfortable 43-20 advantage.
Tulsa improved its shooting to 15-of-33 after the break, but it wasn't enough
to overcome its large deficit.
Marshall dominated the rebounding battle, 47-32.
