Three people arrested after immigration protest downtown Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. - Three people were arrested for impeding traffic during an immigration protest downtown Grand Rapids on Thursday afternoon.

According to the Grand Rapids Police Department, the incident began when protesters gathered in front of the Immigration Office near Ottawa Avenue and Hasting Street NW.

As the protesters walked south on Ottawa Avenue, several people marched in the roadway and blocked traffic.

Around 12:40 p.m., GRPD says that after several warnings, three people were arrested for impeding traffic and resisting -- a 64-year-old man, a 40-year-old man and a 49-year-old woman.
