2-year-old child seriously injured in Mason County crash

AMBER TOWNSHIP, MICH. - A crash in Mason County left a 2-year-old child seriously injured, according to authorities.

According to the Mason County Sheriff's Department, a 33-year-old Scarborough, Ontario, Canada man was driving a 2016 Volkswagen on westbound US-10, near the US-31 freeway ramp around 12:15 p.m. on Tuesday when he lost control.

Deputies say he was attempting to do a U-turn in front of an eastbound 2017 Chrysler Pacifica, driven by a 34-year-old Lansing woman. 

The Volkswagen was struck broadside and a 2-year-old child inside was seriously injured. The child was flown downstate to a hospital. 

The crash is still under investigation by the sheriff's department.
