Allegan County investigating after deputy crashes cruiser into guardrail, ditch

VALLY TOWNSHIP, MICH. - The Allegan County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a deputy crashed his cruiser early Friday morning.

The March 10 crash happened just before 4 a.m. on M40 Hwy at 123rd Avenue.

A preliminary investigation reveals the deputy was northbound on M40 Hwy when he left the right side of the road and hit the end of a guardrail. After the collision, the cruiser went into the ditch and crashed through several smaller trees, causing extensive damage.

The officer was wearing his seatbelt and was uninjured.

The sheriff's office is waiting for a cause determination before any further action is taken.
